The weather finally allowed the SB golf team to get outside and compete. The Chargers have been stuck inside since the first day of practice on March 25 so expectations were not too high as they traveled to Mitchell to compete in the 3rd annual Class B Classic golf tourney at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell. 76 male golfers and 50 female golfers make the tourney the largest Class B tourney in the state. The weather was a typical spring SD day as the golfers teed off in the fog, wind, and cold and finished under bright blue skies and temps in the 60's. On the girls side Kara Huse finished 19th with a score of 56/52 108 and Lydia Hill finished 49th with a 77/68 145. Lauren Wittler was unable to attend due to illness. Nick Wittler led the boys with a 48/50 98 good for 39th, Caleb Chicoine carded a 52/58 110 good for 64th and Payton Peery a 58/58 116 good for 69th. JJ Beck of Gregory was medalist for the boys with a 76 and JVC won the team title with a 258, the Chargers were 16th as a team. On the girls side Taylee Indahl of Burke/SC shot a 86 to take top honors and Burke/SC also won the team title. Next up for the Chargers will be the Faulkton Invite on April 25th if mother nature co-operates. Coach Pool added these comments, "I told the kids I had no high expectations other than to have fun and get used to swinging and hitting real golf balls. We have been putting inside as well as hitting whiffle balls and the only thing that does is gets you into the rhythm of the swing. Hopefully we can get outside and to the fairgrounds and hit some real golf balls. I'm OK with their scores today, but we will go to work at having a better day the next meet."
