Fourth-Fifth-Sixth grade girls in tourney

On the second of February, the 4th/5th grade Lady Chargers competed in the Sully Buttes Booster Club Basketball tournament.

The girls’ first game was against the Pierre Storm, and the Chargers took the victory 28-12.

The second game saw the girls playing the Pierre Hot Shots which they also won by the score of 23-19. They then moved on to the championship round against the Lyman Raiders. The Chargers were defeated in a tough fight 31-17, claiming 2nd place.

Rounding out the scoring for the three games were Kendra Kleven with 33 points, Angela Guthmiller 15 points, Nicole Yackley, 10 points, Kiley McGee with 8 and Gabby McQuirk with 2. Also showcasing their defensive skills were Avery Weinheimer and Jill Hofer. The girls were coached by Kristi Yackley and assisted by Clark Guthmiller.

The fifth and sixth grade Charger girls played Dupree in the first game and came away with the victory, 44-24. They next went on to defeat the Herried/Selby Wolverines 41-14. The girls then competed in the championship game against the Pierre Thunderbolts, and fell to the bolts 50-25.

The total scores for this tourney were led by Lauren Wittler with 61 points. Kallie Murphy tallied 20 points, Kendra Kleven added 15 points, Angela Guthmiller had 6 points and Bailee Langdeau and Gabby McQuirk each contributed 2 points apiece. Also participating in the tourney was Brooklyn Bradford, Avery Weinheimer, and Kiley McGee. The girls were coached by Clark Guthmiller.
