Post 79 meets Noem
The Post 79 14U baseball team traveled to Pierre Friday where they played at Hyde Stadium in a triangular against teams from Hamlin and Pierre. In their opening game against Hamlin, Post 79 shut out their opponents to achieve the 5-0 victory. The squad fell by a run to Pierre 4-3 in the second game of the triangular.
While in Pierre, the Post 79 14U team had the opportunity to meet South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. ‘Pierre is an incredible community, and I want to bring people here to experience the history and opportunity of our Capital City,’ said Noem in a Facebook post. ‘This year, I invited two new youth baseball teams to play in a tournament here in town. My goal is to make this an annual Governor’s Baseball Invitational that brings new families to Pierre and showcases the people and places of central South Dakota.’

In four innings pitched, Thomas Farries had nine first pitch strikes and struck out seven, earning a WHIP of .50. In relief out of the bullpen, Marshall Wittler struck out two and earned a WHIP of 1.0. Wittler induced a fly out to finish the game.
At the plate, Dwight Kinney and Blaine Duffel had an RBI each. Shane Duffel had two QABs.

Marshall Wittler and Wesley Wittler entered the game as relief throwing one inning and two-thirds innings respectively. Marshall Wittler had four first pitch strikes and struck out two en route to earning a WHIP of 2.0. Wesley Wittler had a WHIP of 3.0
