Sully Buttes seniors Joe Fanger, Darian Osterkamp, Griffin Petersen, Collin Bradberry, and Mallory Wiley commemorated their last marching band performance.

At the Lake Region Band Festival in Groton last Friday, the Sully Buttes Marching Chargers were announced as the last band in the competition. Sully Buttes marched in the combined school division which included bands from Leola, Aberdeen Roncalli, Wilmot, Ipswich, Frederick, and Langford.

In introducing the band, the announcer related that the band had previously marched at homecoming and at the Gypsy Day parade.

Instrumental music instructor Erica Paxton is marking a decade as a Sully Buttes teacher. “We had high ranking scores,” said Paxton. “It came down to us marching with schools with bigger bands. The band looked and sounded great, and marched with pride the whole way through - it was a nice way to end the season.”

Drum major Griffin Petersen leads the 22 member band which performed Kenny Loggins Danger Zone for the competition.

Marching Band Showcase will be Monday, October 18th at 7:00 p.m. in the main gym with a dessert bar free-will donation fundraiser before the show.
