Zach Farries, Blaine Hill, Teagan Jost, Reese Voorhees, Rafe Wientjes, Landon Severson, Jesse Schall, and Payton Peery were all in attendance at the State FFA Convention.

Three-year Sully Buttes FFA Chapter President Landon Severson found the state FFA to be a “great experience and I had a lot of fun. I would encourage everyone to get out and participate because chances are you’ll learn something new each time and have fun doing it.”

The Sully Buttes FFA chapter was proud to send two teams to the state convention. The teams and their members follow: Ag mechanics- Blaine Hill, Reese Voorhees, Landon Severson, and Teagan Jost. Natural resources- Jesse Schall, Zach Farries, Rafe Wientjes, and Payton Peery along with the chapter advisor, Andy Schmahl.

“The Ag mechanics placed 13th and Natural resources got 25th respectively,” said Landon. “The best part was getting to have fun with the boys while competing and representing our school and chapter,”

Senior Blaine Hill serves as chapter vice president and reports that his favorite part was going out to eat a lot. “FFA plays into my life because a lot of the skills I learn in it will be useful throughout my entire life,” said Blaine.

Senior Zach Farries is chapter secretary. His most memorable moment was going to state his sophomore and senior years. “I learned that different people will have different skills, and that in FFA, it is possible to learn those new skills. I will probably miss taking trips with my friends the most,” said Zach.

Overall, the teams represented the school and county well, while taking home skills that would last them a lifetime.
