Sakara Topp at Don’s Food Center

Lured by the simpler lifestyle a small town offers, Don’s Food Center cashier Sakara Topp moved to the community last September.

“I moved here from Brookings,” said Sakara, who says that she wanted to be closer to her mom Tammy Topp who has lived here for around five years. “I wanted to be closer to family and live in a smaller town.”

Upon arriving in September, Sakara enrolled her 8-year-old son Kadyx in second grade. “He really likes it here.”

Sakara began working at Don’s in October. “I like working here,” said Sakara. “Everybody is really nice and friendly, and I like the community feeling.” Additionally, working at Don’s has given Sakara an opportunity to meet people in the community.
