The Agar Fire Department razed the south elevator in Agar last Sunday, November 7.

The Pierre Rural Fire Department, Hoven Fire Department, Gettysburg Fire Department, and Onida Fire Department joined the Agar Fire Department in razing the south elevator in Agar last Sunday, November 7.

The control burn was an outstanding opportunity for the departments to practice staging for a large structure fire and the cooperation required when they lend each other mutual aid.

The structure has been part of Agar’s skyline since it was constructed following a 1933 fire that burned the original elevator.
