Bowdle native Micaela Mennenger has made her home in Onida for more than seven years. “I’m originally from Bowdle but moved here in the fall of 2014.”
She and husband Justin met through mutual friends when they were in high school, and “have been together ever since.” They have three children, 6-year-old Rielyn, an Onida Elementary kindergartner, and 2-year-old Cameron and 6-week-old Peyton.
Micaela recently transitioned into a position with BankWest Insurance. “I wanted to grow my career, and I love working with people, so it’s a great fit.”
Just prior to taking her maternity leave for the arrival of the newest addition to the family, Micaela passed her Property and Casualty insurance exam. “It was kind of a crunch but I took my property and casualty exam, so now I’m official,” said Micaela. “If you ever need to quote home, auto or farm insurance, give me a call. I’m excited to share my knowledge with the community.”
In the position since August, Micaela says “I had zero knowledge of insurance before I started. It was like a foreign language to me.” She adds that her BankWest Insurance colleagues Lee Kinney and Ann Hepker “have been great to work with. There is so much to learn and I’m still learning.”When she passed her insurance exam, “my BankWest family bought me flowers, they were all so supportive”
As a family, the Mennengers like to get outside. “Three kids keep me pretty busy. We’re usually at the pool or the river in the summertime.”
Micaela serves as a Sunday School teacher in the Presbyterian Church, and is involved in Bible study there. “We enjoy being part of that church family,” said Micaela.
She jokes that her hobbies include “Washing dishes, laundry and kids.” The recent holiday season has given her ample opportunity to spend time with her family and to take in another hobby – watching Hallmark Christmas movies.
“I love the holidays and the joy they bring,” said Micaela.
