SBHS alum Caleb Shepherd has been a member of the Onida Fire Department since 2015 and had served as the department’s secretary for two years when he was elected Chief last December. “I’d already been serving in an executive role as secretary, and then Bobby said he wanted to step down as Chief but still play a vital role as always,” said Caleb. Explaining how it all came together, “I made a few phone calls, and talked to some of the other members and let them know I’d be interested.”
“It’s going great, so far,” he added.
Caleb notes personal safety related changes the department has made since he has become Chief. “We changed a handful of things up that we were doing within the department, and doubled down on safety.”
