Kole Pickner is pictured in front of a bucket for a coal mining shovel on his first day at L&H Industrial. During his time at L&H, Kole worked with modeling the shovel vehicles it is used on. Kole is pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree at SDSMT.

It was during finals week that Sully Buttes alum and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSMT) student Kole Pickner learned that he had been selected for an internship with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The Mechanical Engineering major says that after applying to the NASA Pathways Program, he hadn’t heard back in months, and then “All of a sudden I got a phone call during finals week from Virginia.” He departs for his internship at the NASA Langley Research Center in Virginia on January 7.
