Watertown native Doreen LaFramboise has called Onida home for the past 21 years. Looking to remain active in her retirement, Doreen has joined the crew at the Onida Watchman, working in ad sales.
“I was wanting people contact, so I came to the Watchman to see if you needed help,” said Doreen.
It was when her husband Larry found a job in Pierre that Doreen landed in the community. “We looked at buying a home in Pierre, but it was so expensive,” said Doreen. Instead, she and Larry looked at homes in Harrold and Onida, eventually purchasing their North 8th Street residence.
Doreen spent sixteen and a half years working for Avera Medical Group in patient accounts and retired in 2019.
She and Larry have been married 39 years and have four children, a son and three daughters including fellow Onida resident Barb Gilliland. They have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. At home they have their dog Puppers, and they are working on adopting another dog.
In her free time, Doreen enjoys crafting and reading. “I love to read,” said Doreen. She also follows her grandkids’ sports teams.
