Alan Dean "Al Baby" Williamson, 63 of Cottage Grove, OR passed away on August 3, 2019. He was born on June 20, 1956 in Onida, SD to parents Larry and LaVerne (Miller) Williamson. The family moved to California around 1964, and Al graduated high school in 1974 from Pleasant Hill High. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, and began basic training in May of 1975, part of which was spent at Tech School in Illinois. He was later stationed at Castle Air Force Base, Merced, CA, and by 1979 was stationed in Okinawa where he finished his service followed by an honorable discharge. He was employed for many years as a service technician for AT&T until he took early retirement.
Al married Sonja Wilson on April 5, 1998 in Lake Tahoe, CA. They lived most of their years together in Livermore, CA, after which they moved to Cottage Grove, OR. Al enjoyed estate sales and doing projects in the garage. He will especially be remembered for his sense of humor. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh, and enjoyed assigning colorful nick names to his family and friends. Al is survived by Sonja Williamson, his loving wife of 21 years; stepsons, Lowell and Wayne Houser, Cottage Grove, OR; stepdaughter, Krystin Lemons (Matt), Roseville, CA; siblings, Richard Williamson, Fresno, CA; Karla Newman (John), Vallejo, CA; Karen Williamson, Spearfish, SD; Craig Williamson, Madison, SD; and 3 grandchildren; 4 nieces and a nephew. A Celebration of Life will be held at Shady Oaks, in Cottage Grove, OR on Saturday, October 12th from 11:00 to 1:00.
