Funeral services for Burt Bridges, age 55, of Isabel were held Friday, December 6, 2019 at Isabel Community Center under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Burt passed away Saturday, November 30, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.
Burt Allen Bridges was born February 10, 1964 in Onida, SD to William E. and Cecilia A. (Sack) Bridges. He grew up, attended and graduated high school in Onida with the class of 1982. A day after graduation, Burt joined the Army where he was involved in the operation of heavy machinery serving in South Korea. He was active in the Army for four years and reserve for two years. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Burt began working for a harvesting crew. He was a man of many talents from washing dishes, delivering pizzas to operating large machinery, and building roads and stock dams. Burt did what it took to provide for his family. He finished his working career with Schlosser Ditching and Plumbing of Timber Lake, South Dakota for a total of 15 years.
Burt married his true love, Patricia Rivers on October 24, 1988 and to this union, five children were born.
Burt’s greatest accomplishment was moving his family to Isabel. He was proud to call Isabel his hometown. Burt was always willing to help anyone in need, whether to help with work or just someone to talk with. He had many friends and was loved by many people. Burt loved to work and enjoyed every aspect of life. Burt always looked for the positive in everything that came his way. He especially loved spending time with all his grandbabies.
Burt was proud to be a member of Smith Wright Legion Post 120 in Isabel.
He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Patricia Bridges of Isabel, daughter, Vicky (Scott) Diede of Jamestown, ND, sons, Branden Bridges of Isabel, Andrew Bridges of Isabel, Casey Bridges of Isabel, Wesley (Pelagie) Bridges of Timber Lake, one granddaughter, Audrey Bridges, four grandsons, Joseph, Porter and Ryker Bridges and Gage Diede, one nephew, Patrick (Amy) Bridges of Isabel, one great nephew, Gabe Bridges, three siblings (one brother and two sisters) his mother, Cecilia Bridges and one great niece, Shelby Thompson.
Burt was preceded in death by his father, William E. Bridges, his grandparents, one brother, one granddaughter, Rylee Ann, his mother-in-law, his adoptive father-in-law and a very close friend, Gary Stranger.
