Lorna Mae (Stevens) LaFave

Lorna Mae (Stevens) LaFave passed away at Northwest Hospital in Seattle, WA on Thursday November 11, 2021 at age 86. Lorna was born to Bryan and Mable (Bradshaw) Stevens on July 24, 1935 in Page, NE. Lorna graduated from Page High School where her senior class prophecy read, “The class wouldn’t have been complete without one politician…” After graduating from Grand Island Business College in Grand Island, NE she began working at Onida Bank in Onida, SD. She met her husband, Dennis at a local dance and married November 28, 1954. Lorna and Dennis made Onida their home until moving to Seattle in 1968 where she was a bank teller at Seafirst Bank until retirement.

Lorna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, and friend. She enjoyed exploring and hiking in the Pacific Northwest, was an avid reader, and a political activist and supporter. A lifetime of genealogy research brought her great joy and invaluable connections. She adored her granddaughter and rejoiced in being an integral part of her life.

She is survived by her daughter Lynne of Olympia, WA, son Marty of Shoreline, WA, granddaughter Stephenie Spencer (Kyle) of Presto, PA, sister Wanda Hanneman of Gold Bar, WA, brother-in-law Eldon (Lilia) LaFave of Pierre, SD, and brother-in-law Clovis Wood of North Little Rock, AR along with loving nieces and nephews.

Lorna was preceded in death by her husband Dennis, her parents, brothers Elvin Stevens and Kenneth Stevens, and sisters Marjorie Parks, Barbara Brandt, and Carol Cable.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Edmond Truelove at the University Washington School of Dentistry and to the Northwest Hospital palliative care team (Dr. Darrell Owens and Jessica Bradley) for their kindness and compassion.

She will be forever missed. At her request, there will be no service.
