This week will be cool with the possibility of rain at times. So, if you’re coming out fishing you want to be sure you’re prepared for any kind of weather.

REMINDER: Help stop the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species! Check out the Game, Fish & Parks web site for detailed info on the regulations. They are very specific so you’ll want to be sure you’ve read the regulations. If you love to fish the Missouri River in South Dakota, please do your part to keep the reservoirs free of aquatic invasive species.

Lake Oahe

In the Pollock and Mobridge and Akaska areas – At Mobridge and Pollock the fishing is fair for walleye. Depth is anywhere from 8-25 feet with 10-15 giving the best results. Weather this week will be cool and warmer weather will help the bite. Catfish are being caught along with smallmouth bass.

At Gettysburg fishing is fair here for walleye also. Around 10-20 feet depth working well. All areas need the weather to warm up consistently and the fishing will improve. Smallmouth are being caught in this area also.

Around Spring Creek / Cow Creek - On Oahe the bite can be tough in many areas. Weather will change before long and that will make a big difference. Northern are being caught along with smallmouth bass. Fish are not real active ye

Lake Sharpe - around the Pierre/Fort Pierre the bite is slow, but walleye are being caught. Depths are around5 5 to 20 feet, depending on the area you are fishing. Best bait is bottom bouncers/minnows. All seem to work. Need to look around for a good area. The spawn is still on which slows everything down.

Lake Francis Case

Around Chamberlain , Lake Sharpe is producing walleye, but again it’s a bit slow. Anglers are fishing in 10-20 feet using spinners and minnows

On Francis Case in the Platte are fishing for walleye is fair, but again the spawn is on and it will pick up shortly. Warmer weather should be coming in next week and that will help. Smallmouth are being caught here also.

At the Pickstown - Wagner – Lake Andes areas the fishing is fair. Most anglers are fishing in 20-30 feet and some are casting towards shore. Pease Creek has been doing well on bass and black crappie. As other areas we need the weather to warm up. The Circle H Motel Fishing tournament is May 5-6.

At Yankton the fishing is fair with some walleye being caught – again, the weather has been playing a part in the fishing here too. Bottom bouncers/minnows are working here.
