Griffin Petersen ran to a 4th place finish to qualify for the State Cross Country meet in Rapid City. Running at the Gettysburg Golf Course in very windy conditions, Petersen’s time was 18:17 and Ian Beyer of Timber Lake with a time of 17:44 won the race. Other Sully Buttes runners were Darion Osterkamp (23) 19:39, Dohrion Eisterhold (27) 20:18 and Cash Langdeau (43) 22:02. There were 51 runners in the varsity boys division. Sully Buttes finished 6th out of 11 teams with 49 points. Lower Brule won the team title with 23 points and Ipswich and Faulkton tied for 2nd with 36 points.

The State Cross Country meet will be held at Hart Ranch in Rapid City on Saturday, September 24. Class B starts the day with girls running at 10:00 a.m. MT and the boys will follow at approximately 10:45 a.m. Class B awards will follow immediately after the boys race.
