Lydia Hill sets the Chargers offense in motion.

Both Sully Buttes girls basketball teams emerged victorious from the action during the double header against the Mobridge-Pollock Lady Tigers in Onida last Saturday. From their contest, the JV team had a 33-23 win, while in the varsity matchup, the final tally favored the Chargers 55-38.

The Sully Buttes girls JVs jumped out to a big first quarter lead and never relinquished it, achieving a 33-23 victory.

With a 3-point field goal by Dani Frost, a trio of 2s from Stevie Wittler, and a pair of 2s and a pair of free throws from Lydia Hill, the Chargers took a strong 16-3 lead in the first. Mobridge tightened things up in the second, scoring 11 points to Sully Buttes’ 6. At the break, the scoreboard favored the Chargers 22-14.

Mobridge again outscored the Chargers in the third 9-4, but the home team held the opponents scoreless in the fourth while putting up 7 to bring the final result to a 33-23 victory.

Lydia Hill with 11 and Stevie Wittler with 10 were the Chargers’ points leaders.

Sully Buttes Varsity 55, Mobridge-Pollock 38

In the first quarter, the Chargers tripled their opponents score 13-4, making nine points from field goal range and going 6-8 from the line. The Lady Tigers sent the Chargers to the line eleven more times in the second, and adding the field goals to their free throw tally, the Chargers scored 19 points to Mobridge-Pollock’s 7, and went in to the break with the scoreboard reading 32-11 Chargers.

The Lady Tigers turned the tables in the third, outscoring the Chargers 14-6. In the fourth, Mobridge-Pollock sent five Sully Buttes players to the line ten times where they were 13-20. After thirty-two minutes of play, the final score indicated a Chargers win 55-38.
