Members of the Sully Buttes wrestling team traveled to Gettysburg on Saturday, January 16 for the Battler Invitational.

To earn a first place finish in the 138 pound bracket, Chase Yellowhawk had three victories, two by pin and one by decision.

Against Deuel’s Tucker Adkins in the quarterfinals, Chase won by Fall at 3:53.

Chase won by Fall at 4:00 in the semifinals over Josh VanHeuvelen of Sunshine Bible Academy.

Over Potter County’s Brayden Schlachter, Chase was victorious in the 1st place match, winning by decision 9-4.

Senior Kash Weischedel suffered a loss to Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington’s Eric Klanchnik by Technical Fall 15-0 at 6:00 into his quarterfinal match.

In Round 2, Kash pinned his opponent, Ipswich/Leola/Bowdle’s Grant Weisser, winning by Fall at 3:39.

Kash was 1-2 on the day, losing his Round 3 match by Major Decision 9-1 to Stanley County’s Levi Stover.

In the Girls #1 bracket, Cateri Yellowhawk pinned Lemmon/McIntosh’s Olivia Geigle, winning by Fall at 0:47.

Cateri was victorious by Fall at 1:01 over Potter County’s Sierra Stuwe.
