On the first day of the Region Tournament in Wessington Springs last week, the Post 79 Varsity Teeners split the victories and advanced to face Faulkton/Ipswich/Highmore on tournament day two. Faulkton/Ipswich/Highmore had twice defeated Post 79 in the regular season, but the Varsity Teeners turned the tables and achieved the 9-8 victory. Pitted against Clark, the team they lost to in their first game of the tournament, in the second game on the day, Post 79 fell 19-6, and their season came to an end.

Batting highlights for the game include three hits from Dwight Kinney, two from Jesse Schall, and two from Marshall Wittler. Jordan Schall, Thomas Farries, and Jackson Eisemann were each walked. Dwight Kinney had four RBIs.

Marshall Wittler took the mound for the Varsity Teeners, going five innings. He had twelve first pitch strikes and six strikeouts and a WHIP of .80. Thomas Farries pitched two innings and had eleven first pitch strikes, striking out three.

Post 79 bats matched Clark through three innings of play and went ahead by two in the fourth. Clark tallied five runs in the fifth and ten in the sixth, taking the 19-6 victory.

Dwight Kinney had two RBIs, and Landon Hepker, Jesse Schall, and Jordan Schall each sent a teammate across the plate. With four, Marshall Wittler led the team in stolen bases and was joined by Dwight Kinney and Jesse Schall with a stolen base apiece.

Post 79 kept their opponents guessing sending six different pitchers to the mound. Thomas Farries pitched two innings and had 26 strikes in 47 pitches with 7 first pitch strikes. Jackson Eisemann pitched 1.2 innings and had 9 strikes in 19 pitches with 2 first pitch strikes. Marshall Wittler pitched .2 innings with 14 strikes in 23 pitches and 3 first pitch strikes. Jordan Schall pitched an inning throwing 17 strikes in 51 pitches with 5 first pitch strikes. Jesse Schall came in for .1 innings and had 9 strikes in 21 pitches with 2 on the first pitch. Wesley Wittler also pitched .1 innings and garnered 5 strikes in 8 pitches with 3 strikes on the first pitch.
