The Sully Buttes Cross Country team competed at two meets last week. On Wednesday, the team travelled to Hoven for their first meet of the year. The team usually competes at the Redfield Invite but was canceled due to weather. Griffin Petersen lead the varsity boys with a 4th place finish with a time of 19:04.39, Darion Osterkamp was 18th overall with a time of 20:45.20 and Cash Langdeau ran 24:33.80. The race winner was Nicholas Schlachter of Potter County with a time of 18:08.95. The team tied for 4th with Potter County with 37 points behind Frederick, McLaughlin and Mobridge-Pollock. The Middle School division had Damian Garcia placing 4th with a time of 14:11.79, Jonas Olson placed 6th in 14:16.76 and Connor Yackley, in his first meet, placed 13th with a time of 15:43.42. No team points were kept but would have had a 2nd place team finish.

Several team members travelled to Ipswich on Sept. 11 and competed at the Ipswich Invite. Griffin Petersen placed 5th with a time of 17:48.18 and the race winner was Pierce Baumberger of Miller with a time of 17:00.40. Cash Langdeau also competed, placing 36th out of 40 runners, with a time of 20:39.32. In the Middle School division, Damian Garcia placed 11th overall with a time of 12:39.25 and Jonas Olson placed 20th with a time of 13:40.29. There were 33 runners in the boys middle school division. The Chargers are up again on Saturday, September 18th competing at the Battler Invite in Gettysburg.
