The Sully Buttes Chargers girls’ basketball team took on Lyman on Tuesday, December 14. The Chargers came out with a double victory with the JV squad winning 41-10 and the varsity squad winning 61-40.

In the first quarter of the JV matchup, the Chargers outscored Lyman 16-2. In the second quarter, the Chargers managed to keep Lyman from scoring while they scored 14 points. At the halftime buzzer, the scoreboard showed a Charger lead of 30-2. After the half, Lyman came out and outscored the Chargers scoring three points to the Chargers two points. In the final quarter, the Chargers scored another nine points and Lyman five points. The score at the end of the matchup indicated a Charger victory, 41-10.

The lead scorer for the JV matchup was Payge Bakker with ten points. Addison Chicoine scored nine followed by Natalie Miles and Olivia Olson with eight each, Caitlin Birney with four and Trinity Kenzy with two points.

Going into the first quarter of the varsity matchup, the Chargers outscored Lyman 17-8. In the second quarter, the Chargers scored another 18 points to Lyman’s 15 points. The score at the half was 35-23 with Sully Buttes in the lead. After the half both teams came out fighting scoring almost the same number of points with the Chargers scoring 15 and Lyman scoring 14. In the final quarter of the night, the Chargers scored another 11 points to Lyman’s three points. The final score of the game was 61-40, a Charger victory.

Lydia Hill was the lead scorer for the varsity with 17 points followed by Tailynn Bradford with 13, Stevie Wittler with 12, Calleigh Chicoine with nine, Allyson Wittler with six and Addison Chicoine with four. The Chargers were 8 of 18 at the free throw line and Lyman was 14 of 19. The Chargers had one more foul than Lyman on the night with 17 and they 16.
