The 6th seed Sully Buttes Chargers traveled to Highmore last Tuesday, November 5, for the Region 2B volleyball tournament. The squad faced the 3rd seed Highmore Harrold Pirates, who they had lost to twice in the regular season.
The third time proved the charm for the Chargers who came away from the match with the three set victory, 25-22, 25-23, and 25-17.
The Chargers were led in kills by Kendra Kleven with ten and Angela Guthmiller with eight. The squad’s 91% service percentage was bolstered by seven service aces.
The Pirates played tough defense, but couldn’t find their rhythm offensively, going 45 of 57 on hits, and garnering a team total of eleven kills led by Grace Knox with five.
Playing for a berth in the SoDak 16 in the final round of the Region 2B tourney, the Chargers traveled to Ipswich Thursday where they faced the number two seed Tigers.
Although they kept the match close, the Chargers volleyball season came to an end with the three-set loss, 25-20, 25-23, and 25-21.
