PURPLE PEOPLE EATERS: A slew of Sully Buttes defenders puts the stop on the  Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots.

Using ball control running, and passing only when needed, the Chargers came away with a 44-22 victory over the Hitchcock Tulare Patriots Friday night in Onida.

Sully Buttes played ball control offense, racking up 262 yards of offense on the ground, and 120 yards through the air, for a total of 382 total yards, to 132 for the Patriot offense. The Chargers had four touchdowns in the first half of the game coming from Landon Hepker, Thomas Farris and two from Jordan Schall. The Chargers cashed in on all conversion points. The Patriots had one touchdown in the first half when they scored on a 70-yard kickoff return run by Kyle Hamilton. The Chargers were up 32-6 at half time.

Patriot’s Cullen McNeil opened the second half of the game with a pass to Landon Puffer who ran for a 70-yard touchdown and then scored the conversion points. Blaine Hill and Landon finished the scoring for the Chargers in the third and fourth quarter. The Patriot’s scored the last touchdown at 4:25 with a 10-yard pass from Landon Puffer to Cole Schroder.

Landon Hepker was 12 of 25 in passing, combine that with 99 yards from Blaine Hill, 77 from Thomas Farries, 65 from Jordan Schall, and 19 from Hepker helped control the pace of the game. Defensively the Chargers were led by Jordan Schall and Rafe Wientjes.

The Chargers now 1-4 on the season, will take on North Border’s Titans for Homecoming and the last home game of the season. North Border record stands at 1-4 with their only win coming against Faulkton. North Border has lost to Herreid/Selby, Langford, Warner and Ipswich/Edmunds Central. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
