The Charger boys used balanced scoring to pick up a 63-35 victory over the winless James Valley Christian Vikings. Nick Wittler led the way with 18 points, Grant Johnson added 15 points and five steals, and Jett Lamb had ten points and ten rebounds.
The Chargers had 13 points in the first quarter and held the Vikings to only 3 points, which came from Elijah Hamilton with a 3 pointer. Senior guard Quinn Jordre had two 3 pointers to lead the scoring for the Chargers in the first quarter. Nick would score most of his points in the second quarter, hitting 4 of 4 attempts at the free throw line and scoring an additional 8 points. Jett and Grant contributed 6 points respectively. Landon Wellman had three 3 pointers for JVC in the second quarter and Zach Kleinsasser added 6 points with a 3 pointer, layup and hitting one of two from the charity stripe. The Chargers led 37-18 at the half. The Chargers continued their scoring strike against the Vikings and had 26 total points in the last half of the game against the Vikings 17.
The Chargers are now 6-1 on the season and will host a doubleheader against Miller (0-6) on Thursday. Saturday they will travel to the Parkston Classic, and take on undefeated Viborg-Hurley. The classic was originally scheduled for Monday, December 30th, and was re-scheduled to Tuesday, December 31st, with both games called due to weather.

JV shuts down Vikings
Rafe Weintjes and Jordan Schall were top scorers in the 61-35 win over the James Valley Christian Vikings. Rafe had 11 points and Jordan 10 points in the win. The Chargers scored 16 points and held the Vikings to only 8 points in the first quarter. Scoring from the Chargers came from Dwight Kinney and Jordan with 4 points each. Other contributors were Landon Hepker, Garrett Petersen, Rafe, and Thomas Farris. Landon Wellman had two 3 pointers and a layup for the Vikings 8 points. The Chargers were hot in the second quarter from the three-point line. Caleb Chicoine and Jordan had two 3 pointers each. Jesse O’Neill for the Vikings found himself at the free throw line and hit 6 or 7 free throws. Landon Wellman hit a three pointer and had a break away layup for 2 points. The Chargers were leading 36-18 at the half.
The Chargers bench saw some playing time in the last half of the game. Dorian Eisterhold and Thomas Farris each had a three pointer in the third quarter. Rafe had 5 points and Tyler Marshall, Garrett, Marshall Wittler and Jesse Schall all had a bucket to contribute to the 19 points for the quarter. Eleven points from the Vikings were all scored by Landon Wellman when he put up three 3 pointers and a bucket for 2 points. The Chargers would get out-scored 6 to 7 in the fourth quarter but was not enough for the Vikings to win.
